More than a festival, Mahalia’s Corner is a movement that provides a stage for seasoned and emerging artists to discover the depths of their artistic expression through music and spoken word.
What started out as a small platform in a tiny cafe has grown into one of Barbados’ most highly anticipated events.
Now celebrating its tenth anniversary, Mahalia’s Corner has served as safe space for some of the most talented artists in the region to connect intimately with audiences, providing a unique experience that feeds mind, body and soul.
International soca stars Patrice Roberts, Kerwin Du Bois, Alison Hinds and Edwin Yearwood have not only graced the Corner Stage, but also described the stripped down acoustic format as one that allowed them to touch their fans in a new and deeply personal way.
Barbadian icons Gabby, Red Plastic Bag, Lil Rick, Biggie Irie and Tamara Marshall, award-winning songwriter Livvi Franc, and Billboard artists Jaicko and Bobby Saint have echoed similar sentiments.
Hosted by one of the most enigmatic front-ladies Barbados has ever seen – Mahalia of 2 Mile Hill – and powered by the band, Mahalia’s Corner is undeniably a treasure.
It combines a stage for established performers, a spotlight for up and coming artists and an Open Mic for new comers in a harmonious way, allowing everyone to shine and delivering a powerful musical journey for patrons.
We’ve had some unforgettable moments.

If the long lines outside of the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre – well before the doors open – and the packed venue are anything to go by, it is one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Mahalia’s Corner on the whole..a great avenue for young Barbadian artists to get their messages out there.
